Watson has Solo Exhibit at Points of View Photography GalleryReception during First Friday Gallery Walk, March 3rd from 6 to 10 PMExhibit description of the March show at Points of View Photography Gallery: Eastern Photographer, Western Perspective: Large Format Photographs by Bruce Watson. This exhibit focuses on the visual importance of scale in photography. Bruce describes the western photographic perspective as being one of “large sweeping vistas.” His personal spin on this approach is to photograph small, isolated sections of these same sweeping vistas, enlarged to grand proportion. The result is a refreshingly different and intimate view. Another aspect of Bruce’s work is the seeking of restoration and reconnection to the natural world, which he feels modern society increasingly undervalues. He notes that some of the scenes he has photographed, even in National Parks, are no longer available. The mark of humans is more and more evident even in these once preserved areas. Bruce’s work is both a preservation record of nature’s beauty and a reminder that such beauty is fragile and in need of our continual respect and protection. Achromatic Arts Joins Raleigh Unchained, the Raleigh Independent Business AllianceWhether at home or on the road, I support local businesses whenever possible. It's a good way to savor the individual flavor of a community and makes life more interesting. That's why I decided to join Raleigh Unchained: to help raise public awareness about the buy-local movement. I recommend Jesse Goslen of Fine Art Framing for anyone who needs fine-art framing services. I especially like his outstanding floater frames. I'm delighted to have David Bibb of Points of View Photography Gallery representing me in the Raleigh area.
